Scabies

Scabies is caused by a mite. The scabies mite is less than ½mm long. The female mite digs into the upper layer of the skin to lay eggs.

Scabies are transmitted through body contact and therefore also through sex.

Scabies cause an itching sensation 2-3 weeks after transmission. The itch is usually the worst on fingers and hands.

Scabies are easily treated with a lotion bought at the pharmacy. Everyone in the household should be treated simultaneously. You can get screened for scabies at your doctor.
